Do you have a wordpress website? You know how to add blog posts, and create and edit pages, but thats about it. Would you like to know a bit more about the themes, widgets and plugins that make your website tick? Would you like to be able to do things like change the header and footer of your website, or update it with your new logo. We all need good SEO, would you like to know a bit more about adding that to your website?
Course Outline
This course will teach you how to make more fundamental changes to your site. How to add and use the many themes available, and how to find and install plugins.
You wll learn how to add good SEO practises to your site, and install plugins to help.
This is a hands on course. During the course you will given access to a test website where you can practise each of the skills as we learn them.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to make more fundamental changes to the look and feel of your site.
You will be able to change themes , and update the colours and fonts of your site.
Using plugins you will be able to add more functionality to your site and make sure it is set up for good basic SEO.
You will need to pay a set fee per participant at the time of booking. For all teaching carried out remotely, all participants will need to ensure they have an adequate internet connection. The course will be carried out using the Zoom conferencing software. You will need a device capable of running the Zoom software, and have this set up in advance with an account created. Please see https://zoom.us/, or contact me for more details in advance of the course. Your device will need to a microphone, speaker or headphones, and webcam or camera. This is an interactive course , with hands-on execrcises. In order to partcipate in these exercises you will need access to a laptop or desktop pc running a web browser such as chrome or firefox, and you will find the course much easier if you have an external mouse.
This is a beginners course, however you should be familiar with opening a web browser such as chrome or firefox and entering a web address.
The course will be given using the latest version or wordpress. I always recommend that people keep their WordPress software up to date. You should be aware that the dashboard for older version sites will look slightly different.
